This case review features a very rare and difficult case. We will learn about which features are important to identify on an antenatal CTG scan, in this case performed due to reduced fetal movements. We will also learn how to identify patterns on the CTG trace during active labour which require immediate action by the obstetric staff. But knowledge about the fetal state is not enough – human factors can also come in to play and have a major impact on the clinical outcome.
